Gordon began fly fishing as a teenager in southwestern Pennsylvania, where he was raised. He has snagged great catches from as far away as Nevada, California, and Belize. However, he and his wife decided to settle in western North Carolina, where they started Turning Stones. Gordon is a Certified Casting Instructor for the Federation of Fly Fishers and the Southeastern Coach of the USA Youth Fly Fishing Team.
This BWO Nymph is as simple of a fly pattern as they come but oh so deadly! I hope you enjoy tying this bug.
This CDC Black Caddis dry fly is Gordon's go to bug when the Black Caddis and Early Winter Stones are moving. This is also an easy dry fly pattern for a beginner to tie. We at Turning Stone's Fly Fishing hope you enjoy having it in your box.
The Soft Hackle Hare and Copper Jig is a great fly to use when movement and a more natural approach are needed. This is a favorite jig of mine, I hope you enjoy it!
The Hot Collar Zebra Midge is a great choice when fishing stained or murky waters and small midges and mayflies are on the menu. I hope you enjoy tying this fly. Great fly pattern for beginners as well.
