Why Should I Go Fly Fishing in Cashiers?
You will not find a more picturesque place than the area surrounding Cashiers. The small town got its first post office in 1850. While the number of full-time residents remains in the hundreds, Jackson County welcomes thousands of visitors every year from all over the world. It is a popular getaway for people from Atlanta, Augusta, Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, Spartanburg, Charlotte, and even nearby Asheville. Surrounded by some of the tallest mountains east of the Mississippi River, the waters that flow through this valley are clean, cold, and full of wild fish.
Two of our favorite places to fish near Cashiers are the Cullasaja and Tuckaseegee Rivers. The Cullasaja flows from Highlands to Franklin. Its waters are a little more technical and better suited for experienced anglers. The Tuckaseegee (or the Tuck as it's often called) is great for all skill levels. You can land a large number of large, beautiful hatchery-supported brown, rainbow trout, and brook trout in both rivers. All you need is the right guide.
